The legal form a business takes — s.r.o., a.s., v.o.s., k.s. and others.

The legal form decides who is liable for a company's obligations, what it has to file, and what the register publishes about it. In Czechia the most common is the private limited company (společnost s ručením omezeným, s.r.o.), where the owners' liability is limited to what they put in.

The forms the register records, most common first: s.r.o. — společnost s ručením omezeným, private limited company. The most common form.; a.s. — akciová společnost, joint-stock company; v.o.s. — veřejná obchodní společnost, general partnership; k.s. — komanditní společnost, limited partnership; družstvo — družstvo, cooperative; z.s. — zapsaný spolek, registered association; OSVČ — osoba samostatně výdělečně činná, sole trader.
